研究方向
城市生态；全球城市环境变化；城市植被与空气污染物的相互作用机制；生态遥感。
主要贡献
长期进行城市生态，城市林业和生态遥感上的研究。杨军在使用以植被为主的绿色基础设施来缓解城市的生态问题的理论和实施措施方面的研究上取得一定进展。在研究中构建了结合传统森林调查，遥感，和生态系统模型来研究城市森林结构和功能的方法，为定量化研究城市森林的结构及功能提供了借鉴。
杨军共主持和参与研究项目二十余项，在国际国内刊物上已发表三十余篇文章，其中被SCI刊物收录16篇，SSCI收录2篇，发表刊物包括Landscape and Urban Planning, Atmospheric Environment和Urban Forestry & and Urban Greening 等相关领域顶尖学术刊物. 于2005年发表在Urban Forestry & and Urban Greening上的以城市森林来缓解北京空气污染一文已经被其他文章引用123次（Google Scholar 检索），列该刊物创刊以来文章被引用次数最多的文章之一。现担任国际树木栽培协会（International Society of Arboriculture）科学与教育委员会国际执委，SCI刊物Urban Forestry & and Urban Greening 编委。
