来自英国考文垂(Coventy)的The Enemy，在主唱兼吉他手Tom Clarke、贝斯手Andy Hopkins以及鼓手Liam Watts还是16岁的年纪，就想要实现他们对音乐的梦想，其中Tom从4岁稚龄便开始学习音乐，还央求母亲买小提琴给他。2006年The Enemy着手创作属于自己的乐曲，不到一年的时间，已经撰写出20首基本表演曲目。精湛的现场演出很快吸引英国知名独立厂牌Stiff Records注意，接连推出单曲“40 Days and 40 Nights”、“It’s Not OK”，造成英国媒体热烈关切，纷纷写上“Next Big Thing”之醒目标语。
The Enemy2006年成立，现签约于华纳唱片。在考文垂与凯尔特人队的一场友谊赛后，乐队与他们的前经纪人John Dawkins相识于考文垂队的理光球场。2006年5与15日苏格兰XFM电台的DJ Jim Gellatly第一次播出他们的歌曲40 Days and 40 Nights。2007年乐队发表了首张专辑We'll Live and Die in These Towns，并登上了全英专辑榜的榜首，获得白金销量。
Music for the People是乐队的第二张录音室专辑，发表于2009年4月27日，发行首周惜败给美国老牌歌手Bob Dylan的新专辑Together Through Life，屈居全英专辑榜的亚军。专辑制作人是Mike Crossey。专辑首支单曲是No Time For Tears，在全英音乐榜上的最高排名是16位（2009年4月19日），这也是该乐队第四首Top 20单曲。
